March 6, 2008 Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced an update of BF50 models (50 hp) and BF40 (40 hp) in the line of middle 4-stroke outboard motors. Serial production of the new models has already begun. Deliveries to the Russian market will begin in June 2008.
New outboard motors BF50 and BF40 have kept an unprecedented light weight, compact design and have acquired an advanced system of fuel injection (PGM-F1), an original technology of controlling the air-fuel mixture and the time of its ignition BLAST2, as well as control of fuel consumption – in order to optimize acceleration and increase efficiency .
BLAST system, along with a new design of the gearbox housing and other improvements prizvana optimize acceleration and contribute to achieving the highest speed, while the presence of fuel flow control led to improved efficiency by 22% compared with the three previous models pokoleniya4. The charging capacity of the battery is increased to 17A – more than 1.7 times higher than its predecessor.
BF50 average 4-stroke outboard motor. The planned volume of sales in the world: 14,000 units.
HIGHLIGHTS BF50 / BF40
Lightweight and compact.
The housing design is intended to contribute to the compactness of the engine by moving the 3-cylinder engine forward, and a plastic intake manifold and smaller electronic components further contribute to the engine output at the leading position in its class in indicators such as light weight and compact design.
Electronic fuel injection PGM-FI, as well as control of fuel consumption (continuous operation at a speed of about 3,000 ~ 4,500 r / min) provide increased efficiency to 22% (about 18% for the BF40) over the previous generation.
Mode, in which the flow control is carried out, is called ECOmo (Economy COntrolled Motor).
The performance characteristics.
The new engines are equipped with the technology BLAST (Boosted Low Speed Torque) to control the air-fuel mixture and ignition timing (by a special computer), resulting in improved acceleration.
New engine streamlined body helps to reduce hydrodynamic drag, compact engine and other technologies to reduce weight can achieve unprecedented speed in the class of engines with a small reflector obemom.y spray and extended anti-cavitation plate. To expand the possibilities of application of new models BF90 and BF75 engines on a variety of boating gear ratio of 2.33 was selected.
Large deflector helps reduce splashing during operation.
The noise level is reduced by 1.0 dB compared with the previous generation due to the elongated exhaust manifold and optimized design of ribs in the upper part of the body.
Both models feature outstanding environmental performance, exceeding the norm RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) – the most stringent international standards. They also significantly exceed the requirements of CARB emission of exhaust gases (U.S. California Air Resources Board) from 2008.
Both models are 93.6% recyclable (by calculations Honda).
Durability and reliability.
Set of four emergency lights to alert the user of insufficient oil pressure, overheating, low charge or malfunction of the electronic fuel injection system PGM-FI.
Protection against ingress of water into the motor housing has been improved by the optimized gasket thrust gear and other improvements.
The charging capacity of the battery.
Reel multi-polar alternator has a greater number of turns than the previous generation model, which allows for 17A capacity. This – BF50 and BF40 are the leaders in its class.
Easy installation and maintenance.
As with previous models, the new BF50 and BF40 can be used with a wide range of boats, thanks to their low weight and compact design.
The new models are compatible with the latest diagnostic systems Honda general purpose engines.
For ease of maintenance, a new plastic cover opens at the touch of a finger and allows for the prevention engine.
As large outboard engines Honda New BF50 and BF40 have “a wing” shape, emphasizing the concept of strength and power.
